About chess-sharp.games

chess-sharp.games is a place to play Chess♯ and its variants live against other people or the computer. Games are played on real clocks, from bullet and blitz to rapid and classical, and rated games count on a ladder for each variant and speed.

Chess♯ and its family

In Chess♯ only the pawns start on the board. Each player places the other pieces on their first row as moves, the queen last, and nothing moves until the king is placed. You win by capturing the king, and no game is drawn: games are scored on a ten-point scale. Its relatives change what is placed: Chess𝄪 adds a second queen, Chess♭ drops the knights, Chess𝄫 places only a king and a queen, and Chess𝄫♭ only the king. In Pre-Chess you take turns placing your pieces on your first row, then play normal chess.

Accounts

A chess-sharp.games account is a Gamesters account: sign in with Google, Apple, or an email and password, and the same login opens the Gamesters app. You can watch games and browse the leaderboards without one.

The computer

The computer opponent is Sharpfish, a build of Fairy-Stockfish (GNU GPL v3) that knows the Chess♯ family. It runs in your browser as WebAssembly, and its moves are checked by the server like anyone's. Four levels: Easy, Medium, Hard and Max.
